James O’Keefe is the founder of Project Veritas and he has been putting out videos that expose liberal corruption. His latest clip offers a frightening glimpse into what is taking place at COVID-19 testing sites. New Rochelle, New York has been labeled as a hot spot and he took a trip to this location with a colleague.
At the beginning of the video, O’Keefe explains his willingness to follow proper procedure. He called the site ahead of time, letting them know that he was not experiencing symptoms. He told the site that he had been traveling a lot and interacting with people who may have it, though. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
The New York State Health Department had already given him the go ahead to stop by and take the test. A National Guardsman asks O’Keefe to refrain from taking any pictures or video at the site. He offers the necessary assurances and deletes a photo as soon as he is asked to do so.
The entire process unfolds on camera. We are led to assume that the companion is responsible for filming. The National Guardsman walks them through the process, letting them know that the testing process is typically toughest on children. When he asks if the pandemic is as bad as the media is making it out to be, he receives a very surprising answer.
“It’s just the flu,” the guardsman says. Another guardsman says that the testing is simply a precaution. A third guardsman chimes in, although this man actually seems to be taking the virus seriously. He says that the coronavirus is not “just the flu”, it is much worse. At least one of these guardsmen seems to be able to grasp the enormity of what we are dealing with.
The test is performed by a nurse and O’Keefe asks her some questions. He wants to know more about the severity of the virus. She says that different people are affected in different ways. Since the virus is “so new”, she is not able to offer a more thorough response.
O’Keefe is fortunate when it comes to the timing of the test. The swab does not have to be placed all the way inside of his nose. His mouth is also swabbed and this is a less invasive technique than what many of these testing sites were relying on. While the experience was filmed, no photography was allowed to be shown.
The HIPPA guidelines were not violated here, in our humble opinion. These guidelines are supposed to protect the patient. As for the guardsmen, their faces are covered. The video is confusing to most of us, though. O’Keefe is a provocateur by nature but he provides the general public with information that they need to know.
The medical professionals were not downplaying the seriousness of the virus but the guardsmen were. This video is an important watch. It reminds us that there is much that we do not know yet. In the meantime, we all need to be taking the proper precautions. Since we are not well versed in the effects of the coronavirus at the present moment, it is better to be safe than sorry.
All we can do is listen to the advice that is being provided to us by the experts. We also need to pay close attention to the guidelines that are being put into place by our local elected officials. At a time like this, it is easy to make the right choices. Americans need to remain indoors and keep to themselves as much as possible.
While we all have our important errands to run, we need to keep these trips to an absolute minimum. For many of us, it is easy to accomplish most of our daily objectives without having to leave our homes or cars. Anyone who has a mask should be wearing it when they are in public and it does not matter how silly you think it may look.
A mask is not going to keep you safe from the transmission of COVID-19. What it will do is keep you from potentially infecting others. There are a huge swath of Americans who are carrying the virus unknowingly. When these people do not take the proper precautions, they are placing others at risk. These potential vectors must be willing to take the necessary precautions.
There is no reason to brush this virus off or act like it is a media hoax. Staying in the house for an extended period is not going to be easy but it is very doable. By adhering to the social distancing guidelines and using our common sense, we can all work together to flatten the curve.
